Column Subtraction Using Sticks Digits Less Than 5
Subtraction can be performed by drawing sticks equal to the first digit in the question and then cross sticks equal to second digit the remaining stick gives the desired result.
For example let us solve the question
3 - 1 = ?
In the figure below there are 3 blue sticks for the digit 3 and 1 stick is crossed by red line as the second digit is 1
Counting the remaining sticks we get 2
